One of the very few heat races still existing in Europe is the Italian Campionato Europeo is held on the half-mile track in Cesena. This year, a race-off was needed to determine the final winner of the first prize of 55,200 Euros.
The first heat was won by Ernest Jet (sired by Oasis Bi) with Roberto Vecchione driving in 1:55.0h, ahead of Emma dei Veltri with Antonio di Nardo.
In the second heat, where participants had reversed starting positions from the first heat, it was Dimitri Ferm (sired by Nad Al Sheba) with Marco Stefani who won in 1:57.1h, with Emma dei Veltri again finishing second.
In the decisive heat, Dimitri Ferm took the lead from the start and stayed ahead for a secure victory in 1:56.3h.
Nad Al Sheba – the sire of Dimitri Ferm – is an Italian stallion who has made a strong impact and is in third place in Italy after Face Time Bourbon and Maharajah.
Nad Al Sheba is one of the very few offspring that Windsong’s Legacy managed to produce.
