Vernon, NY – Driver Leon Bailey had a grand slam including a win in the $6,500 featured fillies & mares pace with Racine Belle at Vernon Downs on Friday (Oct. 11).

Racine Belle ($2.40) darted right to the front and led to the quarter iby 4-1/2 lenghts in :27. She would slow things down with a :29.2 second quarter to be first to the half in :56.2. Her big lead started to shrink as she got to the three-quarters first in 1:24.3.
As they reached the stretch, third-place finisher I Loved Her First (John MacDonald) and second-place finisher Abuelita Hanover (Jimmy Whittemore) started to get closer, but Racine Belle found another gear and won easily in 1:53.
Racine Belle is a 7-year-old mare by So Surreal. David Dewhurst trains for owners Chris and Dale Lawton. It was her fifth win this season and her 42nd career victory.
Bailey got his other wins with Boston Jive ($5.40), Rackadoodledoo ($23.40), and Play Rock ($3.40).
Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Saturday (Oct. 12) starting at 6:05 p.m.
