Racing continues at Van Wert Fair

Van Wert, OH — The Van Wert County Fair at Van Wert, Ohio hosted another nine-race program during its second session of racing on Friday night, Sept. 3. Each of the three colt and filly stakes contested had just one division.
Kostas Spur (Pegasus Spur-Nitelinedia) won the 2-year-old colt trot in 2:09.4. Dennis Putman trains the gelding for the Lucky Eleven Stable with Bruce Schmidt picking up the winning drive.
Jerry Lighthill guided Lillyhillbilly (Towner’s Big Guy-She’s Such A Tiger) to a 2:03.2 mile to capture the 3-year-old filly pace. Jim Mulinix trains the filly and also co-owns her with Denny Miller.
Ronald Zeman’s Jessica Speed (Jailhouse Jesse-Sturdy Speed) took the 3-year-old filly trot in 2:06.4. Dale Decker drove the filly with Karen Tkaczyk doing the training.
Harness racing resumes at the Van Wert County Fair on Monday night (Sept. 6) with a seven-race card. Post time for the first race will be 7:30 p.m.
