Berea, OH — Oh, the variety we saw on this perfect day for racing. Sixteen races held with 13 different sires being represented in the winner’s circle, as well as 12 different trainers and 11 different drivers getting their picture taken. Half of the 16 races were won wire-to-wire on Tuesday (Aug. 8) in Berea, Ohio.

Big Sweep Osborne (Big Bad John) was the first winner of the afternoon, winning a division of the 2-year-old colt pace in 2:03.1. Carmensdaleyapple (Mr Apples), trained and owned by Joe Paver, driven by Pierce Henry, would later win the faster division in the 11th race in 2:01.4.

Here’s Jolene (Cayenne Turbo) was the only filly in her 2-year-old filly trotter class to stay flat and her reward was a trip to the winner’s circle. She tripped the timer in 207.2. She is owned by Chris Beaver, Tim Homan, Steven Zeehandelar and Ashley Burke. Trainer Chris Beaver and driver Cameron McCown would also win the second division with California Love (Stormin Normand) in 2:08.4. And Beaver and connections were not done yet.

Trainer and owner Mike Sweeney, and driver Art McIlmurray made A Oliveinmymartini’s (Three Olives) fourth career start another winning one in Berea. Her connections earned the winner’s portion of the highest purse of the day ($10,838) for the single 2-year-old filly pace division. The winning time was 2:02.

The second highest purse of the day ($10,563) for the 3-year-old filly pacers went to 11-time winner this year, Da Vinci Artist (Art Official). Trained and driven by Kurt Sugg and owned by Robert Corbin, she posted a wire-to-wire performance in 2:00 with an impressive last quarter of :27.4.

It was the Chris Beaver and connections show again to win the fastest division of the 3-year-old filly trot in 2:02.2 with Bamaslastchance (Iron Duke). The other division almost went to the Beaver connections, but the winner was disqualified and placed second for interference, thus leaving the second placed first winner as Kash’s Legacy (Dejarmbro), trained by Scott Cox, driven by Jason Thompson, and owned by Wayne Zollars.

Three divisions of the 3-year-old colt trot resulted in the following winners: One Sneaky Pete (Dejarmbro), Bobby One Mile (Dejarmbro) and Easter Treasure (Triumphant Caviar). One Sneaky Pete claimed the fastest division in 2:04.1. He is owned and trained by Renee Houska nd was driven by Hunter Myers.

The 3-year-old colt paces gave the crowd the two fastest miles of the day. Mannys Too Special (Woodstock), trained by Joe Paver, driven by Pierce Henry, and owned by Pearl Warren, Joseph Paver and Dennis Paver was the fastest in 1:58. Trainer Kent Sherman’s Stanley K (McArdle) paced the mile in 1:59.1. Stanley K is owned by Daryl Sherman and was driven by Ryan Stahl.

Two-year-old colt trotters ended the day with the fastest division trophy awarded to Grand Finale (Winning Fireworks). Chris Beaver owned and trained, Cameron McCown drove and additional owners Jim Burnett and Tim Homan hopefully enjoyed their purse check.
