Racing opens at Montpelier, Ohio

Montpelier, OH — The Williams County Fair at Montpelier, Ohio opened up its two-day meet with nine races on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 12).

Justabout (Victory Sam-Over Proximity) trotted a 2:12 mile to take the lone division of the 2-year-old filly trot. Tom Moore, Jr. is the filly’s trainer-driver with Tom Moore, Sr. paying the bills.

Duke Sugg steered Cruisin N Surfin (Yankee Cruiser-Channel Surfer) to victory in the only split of the 3-year-old filly pace. Bill Webb trains the filly with D and K Stables LLC being the owners. Cruisin N Surfin toured the Montpelier oval in 2:03.3.

Win Master (Master Lavec-Sexy Sahbra) captured the fastest division of the 3-year-old colt trot in 2:05.4. Roger Huard is the gelding’s owner-trainer with Adam Short performing the driving duties. Jerry Lighthill guided Hay Look Out (Ilooklikemymom-That Lady’s Hot) to the winner’s circle in the other division after a mile in 2:08.2. Jim Mulinix trains the gelding and also co-owns him with Dale Leu.

Manny Shuffle (Mantacular-Lady Shuffle) won the lone division of the 2-year-old colt pace in 2:04.1. Duke Sugg is the colt’s trainer-driver with Ivan Sugg and Robert and Randy Hutchison picking up the expenses.

Harness racing will conclude at the Williams County Fair on Tuesday evening (Sept. 14) with nine harness races and five Trottingbred races. Post time for the first race will be at 6:30 p.m.
