Do Me Honor wins Meadows $22,500 F&M Pace

Washington, PA — Do Me Honor blazed to the lead from post eight, held off a serious third-quarter challenge from the favorite and went on to capture Monday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Not Listed Preferred/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

After a :30.1 second-quarter breather, Do Me Honor faced the uncovered bid of 1-2 (as part of an entry) NY Yankees. But the 5-year-old daughter of Cheyenne Rei-Do Me Right dug in for Aaron Merriman and prevailed in 1:52.3. The pocket-sitting Tremor Hanover was second for her fourth consecutive race, 1-3/4 lengths back, while NY Yankees saved show.

Bill Bercury trains and owns Do Me Honor, who now boasts career earnings of $233,338.

Mike Wilder drove three winners on the 15-race card.

Dover Downs
In only her fourth start since being acquired by Ken Wood, Bill Dittmar and Steve Iaquinta, Jeremes Sweetheart stepped up to the $23,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace at Dover Downs and swept to her third consecutive victory.
Ron Pierce was at the controls as the 4-year-old daughter of Jereme’s Jet-Fox Valley Evanna, trained by Eric Ell, took control early and was never headed, recording a lifetime best 1:52 victory. Shine N Shimmer came on to finish second for Eric Carlson with Freedom Crossing, driven by Allan Davis, earning the show payoff.

Madges Lil Fortune, reined by Allan Davis, stalked Ryder Blue Chip (Tim Tetrick) until reaching the stretch, then shot past to score a lifetime fastest 1:53.3 victory in the $16,000 Winners Over Mares Pace. Wayne Givens conditions the Cams Fortune-Madges Powerdream mare for Love Of My Life Stable. Lorrie Please (Eric Carlson) was third.
