Donttellmewhattodo scores in Harrington Mares Open

Harrington, DE –— Not even post eight could stop Darryl Gombert, Jeffrey Rose and Hankook Stable’s Donttellmewhattodo ($18.60, Victor Kirby) from prevailing in the featured $20,000 Mares Open at Harrington Raceway on Tuesday in 1:56.

Donttellmewhattodo was a 1:56 winner.

The 7-year-old DM Dilinger mare left post eight alertly and sat behind pacesetter Miami Diva N (Jim Morand) for most of the mile before surging clear in the final stages of the race.

It was her fifth win of the year for trainer Charles Cochran III.

Drivers Kirby, Ross Wolfenden, Mike Cole, Corey Callahan and Jon Roberts each had doubles on the program.

Running Aces
Gooch’s Bad Boy has been knocking on the door all season long in the weekly Open Pace at Running Aces, but won for the first time in seven weeks on Tuesday night in 1:54.3. Driver Nick Roland worked out a second-over journey in the $8,000 race with the 6-year-old Money Lender gelding owned by Lorenza Gooch. He followed Out Of My Hands (Dean Magee) around the final turn then tipped to the third lane to sweep to the 1-3/4 length victory. Who Am I (Tom T. Tetrick) lost the place photo to Out Of My Hands. Cheese Plumper was another who has been close without a cigar through her first ten starts in the weekly Minnesota-sired feature for older horses. The 4-year-old Everlasting Art mare finally broke through in her 11th try as she bested Do The Kankan (Ryan Lems) and Restless Yankee (Craig Banks) in 1:55.3. The 4-year-old and up mares pace is expected to be the featured event when a host of $20,000 (est.) Minnesota State Championship races are held on closing night for the 2010 season on August 28. Cheese Plumper is owned by Van Otterloo Stables and was driven by Rick Magee. Leading driver Dean Magee extended his lead in the local dash derby by recording four wins for four different trainers on the nine-race card. His tallies came with WW Win (trainer Dan Epp), El Gee’s Foggyflyte (Jenni King), More Again (Natalie Zabrzenski) and Farragut (Dan Poprawski).

Saratoga Gaming and Raceway
As a 3-year-old, Saintfrancis earned $25,000 in four starts. After only racing once in his 4-year-old campaign in 2009, Saintfrancis has come back strong in 2010. Trained by Andrew Byler, Saintfrancis moved his record to three-for-three this year behind a strong first over effort on Tuesday night. Jim Devaux piloted Saintfrancis to the victory after enduring a tough trip while overland in a :58.2 final half. Though it looked like Saintfrancis was fading at the three-quarter pole, the Like A Prayer 5-year-old dug in and sprinted home in :28.4 to outclose the race’s front runner Majestic Lad (Frank Coppola, Jr.) to complete the hat trick to begin his season. The mile was trotted in 1:59.4. Byler and Devaux teamed up later in the night for a wire-to-wire win with trotter Stormont Hawk, who cruised to a 1:58.3 career best-matching victory.
