HF’s Super Star was a 1:55 winner in the Mares Open at Saratoga.

HF’s Super Star was making her local debut for trainer Rob Harmon and was fresh off a well beaten try in the Pocono Open for mares. A winner of two legs of the Petticoat Series at Yonkers this spring, the 4-year-old was scratched from the series final. With her return effort appearing dull at Pocono, her chances appeared bleak for her local debut.

Driver Greg Merton put HF’s Super Star (Dags) in a striking position approaching the half-mile pole, situating her second over behind the race’s favorite. The Iowa bred powered down the center and paced by her rivals in the stretch, stopping the timer in 1:55 for the race nine upset.

HF’s Super Star, dismissed at 12-1, was the longest shot on the board in the six-horse feature. Fiesta Camcun (Camotion) was the runner-up for the second consecutive week in the Mares Open for driver Brian Cross while Pay Tribute (Billy Dobson) earned the show spot in the $16,000 feature.

Trainer Rob Harmon also recorded a win with his Cosmo Madness (Three Olives) in Sunday afternoon‘s eighth race.
