Pompano top trot To Whosgoinwhosstayin

Pompano Beach, FL — The feature event of the Wednesday, April 25 program at The Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park was the $8,000 purse Isle Mile 1 Trot. Whosgoinwhosstayin made a quarter pole move from third to first and went the rest of the way to stop the clock in 1:56.1 with Wally Hennessey in the bike. Wildfire, in rein to Dan Clements, enjoyed a pocket trip but had to settle for the runner-up spot. Big Baller with Andy Santeramo in tow followed in for third.

Julianna Edwards trains Whosgoinwhosstayin for owners and breeders Sophia and Chris Valkanoff of Pompano Beach, FL. The 6-year-old Basil-Benn’s Margie gelding pushed his career earnings to $177,657 with the win.

Hooiser Park
Haulin Laser and driver Peter Wrenn visited the Open ranks once again and rallied home a winner to pull off the 16-1 upset in the $24,000 Open Trot at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino on Wednesday. Haulin Laser stopped the clock in 1:55.3, eclipsing his 2-year-old mark of 1:55.4. ABC Mercedes finished second as Proud Yankee was able to take advantage of a second-over trip to round out the well paying trifecta. The homebred son of Broadway Hall-Lisa’s Laser, who scored his first win of his 4-year-old campaign, has a lifetime record of 8-2-2 in 26 outings and has bankrolled more than $120,000 for trainer Jim Mulinix and owners Dm Stables LLC and Denny Miller. Haulin Laser returned $35.20 to his backers while the trifecta paid $579.60. Freddyscooter executed his customary late charge to prevail in the final steps of the $24,000 Open Pace. Driven by Trace Tetrick, the duo rallied hard over a sloppy track to capture their first victory of the 2012 season by a neck in a time of 1:52.1. Owned by Steven Brannan and Frederick Shiery, Freddyscooter made his fourth start on the year a winning one. He now has 31 career wins and is approaching $650,000 in career earnings. Brannan trains the Indiana-sired gelding and also raised him at his farm in Bryan, Ohio.

Saratoga
Trainer Sam Schillaci scored a training double on the Wednesday card at Saratoga Casino and Raceway. The Ohio based trainer usually brings a portion of his stable to New York come spring and summer and Schillaci horses started popping up into the program in the past couple of weeks. On Wednesday, the 3-year-old trotter Pop My Buttons (Credit Winner) broke her maiden in the evening’s opener, coming on late to stop the timer in 2:04.1 with John Stark, Jr. in the sulky. Pacer Here And Now (Bettor’s Delight) finished a strong third last week despite drawing post position eight and on Wednesday moved in to post five in a tough group of non-winners of two races lifetime. Stephane Bouchard sat behind the 4-year-old Schillaci trainee as they paced by the race’s favorite in the stretch to record the win in 1:58.1.

Monticello
His beard may be getting grayer but time hasn’t slowed Billy “Zeke” Parker, Jr. The 58-year-old reinsman, now back in action after prostate cancer surgery, is beginning to pick up steam since returning on March 19.
On Wednesday, Zeke drove three more winners on the Monticello Raceway card and now has 30 this season in just 168 starts. Parker began the afternoon with a 2:03 triumph behind Luanne Case’s pacer Casey’s Cam then followed it with a 1:59.1 victory with Ken Weckstein’s Buck ID in the weekly winners over trot. His hat trick came when guided Diana Bartells’ Keystone Endurance home first in a time of 2:00.1. Thus far Parker has amassed an amazing total of 10,652 driving victories which currently ranks him seventh all-time in races won in North America.
