Redder Than Red wins Meadows top trot

Washington, PA — Redder Than Red stalked from the two hole, then roared from the pocket in the lane to capture Monday’s $18,000 Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.

Redder Than Red and Aaron Merriman charged for the lead from post 4, stretching out the heavily favored Unefoisdansmavie before yielding to the pocket. That set the stage for the late brush of the 4-year-old SJ’s Caviar-Chaka Khan gelding, who scored by 1-1/4 lengths over Boytown in 1:54.4 Unefoisdansmavie saved show. It was one of three wins on the 15-race card for Merriman.

Walter “Boots” Dunn trains Redder Than Red, who boasts 27 victories in 53 career starts, for Dunn Stable.
