RT Sun Poco blows away Meadows F&M trotters

Washington, PA — Parked the opening three-eighths, RT Sun Poco refused to tire as she blew away a talented field in a career-best 1:53.4 in Monday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.

Looped by a pair of horses from the gate, RT Sun Poco persevered for Aaron Merriman, finally clearing to the lead after a demanding :27.2 first quarter. She steadily opened up thereafter and downed Paulette Revere by 6-1/2 lengths, shaving one and one-fifth seconds from her lifetime mark. Don’t Blink rallied for show.

Robert Rougeaux III trains RT Sun Poco, a 7-year-old daughter of Yankee Paco-Sunfest who now boasts $217,396 in career earnings, for Brocious Racing Stable.

Merriman drove four winners on the 15-race card while Brett Miller fashioned a triple.

Harrington Raceway
William Moffett’s In Treatment ($45.20, George Dennis) earned his first ever Open class win Monday in the $18,000 feature at Harrington Raceway with a 1:53.4 victory. The 6-year-old Jate Lobell gelding, trained by his owner, used a vicious second over charge in deep stretch to catapult by tiring pacesetter Shark Ingested and gain the lead for his sixth win of the year. In Treatment followed live cover in the form of a game Main A Dieu Too (last week’s winner), who was outside the entire mile from post eight and held second. Fissato, who was shuffled back, shook free late to get third. Driver Tony Morgan had three winners on the 11-race card. Dennis had a driving double.

Northfield Park
Traczar took the $5,000 Open Pace for owner Kimberly Smith in the opening race on Monday at Northfield Park. Trainer Donald Schettig called upon Dan Noble to drive. Traczar (Blissfull Hall-Banska Bela) started from post four and led at every call through fractions of :27.2, :55.4, 1:25 and 1:54.2. He was 2-3/4 lengths in front at the wire. Monday’s victory is the second consecutive success for Traczar. Completing the race were State Of The Union, Lite Me Up, Grandkids Attack, Green Olives and Rounding Third. The 9-
year-old Traczar now has 22 career wins and earnings of $222,090. He paid $13.60 to win. West River Tex paced home for his third straight win Monday in Northfield Park’s seventh race. The 7-year-old is owned by Ronald Best. Trainer Harla Loney has called upon Aaron Merriman to pilot the gelding in all three of his victories. West River Tex started from post six and led at every call through fractions of :27.4, :56.2, 1:24.4 and 1:53.4. He finished 1-1/4 lengths in front of his closest competitor, I Ride Western (Dan Noble). Monday’s triumph increased West River Tex’s (Western Success-West River Isobel) lifetime wins tally to 26 and his career earnings to $76,093. He was the favorite and returned $3.60 to win.

Plainridge Racecourse
For the third time in four starts, John Hogan’s Panamanian wired the field on Monday at Plainridge Racecourse. Hogan’s stable star went the mile in 1:54 to gain the winner’s share of the $4,000 event. He retured $15.80 for a $2 win wager. In other highlights in Monday’s program, Shane Taggart drove both ends of the double and leading driver Steven Nason posted a triple.
