Wednesday’s (July 27) edition of Racing Roundup features a results story from Saratoga Casino and Raceway. Semjac Legacy is back on top in Saratoga feature Saratoga Springs, NY — Semjac Legacy rediscovered her winning ways on Wednesday night at Saratoga Casino and Raceway as the mare who started out the season very strong had gone through a lull before recording the pocket sitting win.
Dan Cappello, Jr. was at the controls for trainer Chris Marino who just acquired the 5-year-old pacing mare a few weeks ago. A winner of three in a row in the springtime, Semjac Legacy (Western Paradise) had gone through a lull heading into Wednesday’s $7,500 conditioned/claiming event for pacing mares.
Aided by class relief and a pocket ride, the mare cruised past the favorite Maximum Bet (Jay Randall) in the stretch and drew off late to record her fifth win of the season. Maximum Bet was the runner-up for the second consecutive week while Brooklyns Best (Mickey McGivern) earned the show spot.
The victory for Semjac Legacy came in 1:55.3 and was the second win of the night for reinsman Dan Cappello, Jr.
Live racing continues on Thursday night with a first post time of 7:20 p.m.
