Racing Roundup: Transcending repeats in Meadows Preferred

from harness publicists across North America

Monday’s (September 13) edition of Racing Roundup features results stories from The Meadows and Plainridge Racecourse.

Transcending repeats in Meadows Preferred

Washington, PA — Transcending took his time making the front Monday, but once there, he was unassailable in capturing his second straight $22,500 Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.

Leaving from post five, Transcending was parked for much of a first quarter in :27 before clearing to the lead. Dave Palone worked out a comfortable :29.4 second panel for the 6-year-old son of Grinfromeartoear-Apopka Denise, and that was the only breather he needed.

He scored under wraps in 1:51.1, three-quarters of a length better than the pocket-sitting Fox Valley Armor. Valentowner saved ground to complete the trifecta.

Ron Burke trains Transcending, who extended his career bankroll to $349,358 for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, JJK Stables and Larry Karr. It was one of Palone’s six wins — five for Burke — on the 15-race card.

Plainridge Racecourse
Fall has settled in at Plainridge Racecourse and with the refreshing breezes and cool weather it brought about some incredible results Monday and for the young up and coming driver Steve Nason, son of John Nason, it was a day that he will long remember. It was a three bagger for the 20-year-old. He drove Hurricane Emily in the fifth race for trainer Anthony Brannigan to a new lifetime mark of 1:53.2 and paid $9.80. He followed that by scoring with the late double, winning the eighth race with Bolero Loupet for trainer Randy Bickmore in a time of 1:54.2 and paid $3.20. The third winner came in the ninth race aboard Pocketful Of Money for trainer Domenic Longobardi, Jr. in a time of 1:57.2 and paid $5.40. The late double of 1-5 paid $11.60. Flying In Style, driven by Ben Quinn, came in second at 60-1 and paid $22.00, bringing the exacta payoff of 2-7 to the amount of $1,582.20.
