Napoleon, OH — The Henry County Fair at Napoleon, Ohio, wrapped up its two-day meet on Wednesday evening (August 17) with a nine-race card. The track was in excellent condition with several horses picking up new lifetime records.
Ben Ott’s Our Little Filly (Towner’s Big Guy-Two-fifty-seven) took the 3-year-old filly pace in 2:02.4, despite being parked out the entire mile. Tom Marts, Jr. is the trainer-driver of Our Little Filly.
John Konesky III steered Jess Perfect (Jailhouse Jesse-Perfect Comer) to victory in the 2-year-old colt trot. Konesky also does the training of the gelding and co-owns him with his son Patrick. Jess Perfect toured the Napoleon oval in 2:07.2.
Arizona Dawn (Dawn Ofa New Day-Cinder Tempe) captured the 3-year-old colt pace in 2:02.4. Gary Gilliland is the gelding’s owner and trainer with Mark Headworth doing the driving.
Headworth picked up another winning catch-drive with Joe Ewald’s Jailhouse Robbin (Jailhouse Jesse-I Like Lofty) in the 2-year-old filly trot. Greg Straub trains the filly, which completed the mile in 2:07.4.
The next stop in the Northwestern Ohio Colt Racing Association circuit will be the Defiance County Fair at Hicksville with racing on Tuesday, August 23, and Friday, August 26. Post time will be 6:30 p.m. each evening.
