Dover, DE – Ragtime Red raced from the pocket and rocketed to victory in the $25,000 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace at Bally’s Dover on Wednesday (Dec. 10) night.

Ragtime Red and Huntress worked the give and go leaving the starting gate. Huntress settled along the pylons in second then sprinted past the 4/5 betting favorite Ragtime Red, who accepted the pocket journey approaching the quarter pole. Huntress set fractions of :27.2 for the opening quarter. Driver Allan Davis aboard Huntress took full advantage of the single file lineup and backed up the half in :56.4 a :29.2 quarter.
Huntress continued, eager on the lead and powered to the three-quarters in 1:24.2 a :27.3 third quarter. Incaseyoudidntknow raced first-over up the backstretch but her bid stalled. The others in the field remained content racing along the pylons.
Ragtime Red awaited patiently from the pocket then surged off the pylons and in full attack mode at the top of the lane. Ragtime Red won by a neck pacing the mile in 1:52.2. She paid $3.60 for the win.
Huntress finished secomdmand Ballast earned the show spot.
Ragtime Red ( Getitoffyourchest) is owned and was bred by David L Banks of Dagsboro, Delaware. Don Brittingham trained and Tim Tetrick drove.
After the race Ragtime Red’s trainer Don Brittingham reacted by saying “ I was thinking about giving her time off but she raced great tonight”
Tim Tetrick and Tony Morgan scored driving triples each.
The feature race on Thursday night at Bally’s Dover is the eighth race, $27,500 Blue Hen Open Handicap Pace. Stevens Saloon, last week’s winner tangles with Itsrockandroll A and Muskateer Hanover.
Bally’s Dover races Monday thru Thursday with a first race post at 4:30 p.m.
