Rainbow Blue makes it six in a row

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – April 15, 2004 – Rainbow Blue coasted to her sixth straight win, eighth in nine career starts, with a two and a half-length victory in the fifth race, the $22,500 Blossom Series prelim on Thursday night at the Meadowlands.

The daughter of Artiscape – Vesta Blue Chip goes into the $73,760 Blossom Series Final on April 24 as the likely favorite.

Ron Pierce sent 1-2 favorite Rainbow Blue [$3.00, $2.20, $2.40] to the lead as the bulky field of 12 three-year-old pacing fillies hit the half pole. She crossed the wire in a lifetime best of 1:51.4, last quarter in 27.4 seconds. Double Crème [$3.00, $2.80] was second best, and it was four and a quarter lengths to 50-1 Smashingpringipisa [$6.40] in third.

Rainbow Blue is trained and co-owned by George Teague Jr. of Houston, Delaware. She was purchased as a yearling at the 2002 New Jersey Classic Sale for $10,500 by Teague and K & R Racing LLC of Houston, Delaware, the nom de racecourse of Kevin and Ronald Fry. She now has banked $125,174. The only loss on her nine-race record was in her third lifetime start when she finished third by a neck in the $150,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes Final on July 9, 2003 at the Meadowlands.
