Washington, PA — Considering the regally bred fillies who will be on display, Saturday’s (July 14) $323,760 Pennsylvania Sires Stake for freshman pacers at The Meadows will have the look of a deb ball.

Among the babies trying to live up their royal lineage will be:

• Somewherovrarainbow (race six, post three, Montrell Teague), the fourth foal of 2004 Horse of the Year Rainbow Blue but her first filly;
• Lloyd’s Lady (race nine, post four, Montrell Teague), whose mom, Sanabelle Island, won her first 23 races and earned $1.7 million lifetime;
• Wherethegirlsare (race eight, post two, Tony Hall), daughter of Cabrini Hanover, 3-year-old filly Pacer of the Year in 2005 who banked more than $1.3 million in her career;
• Live Entertainment (race one, post three, Tony Hall), half-sister to See You At Peelers, the Dan Patch Award winner at both 2 and 3.

It’s premature to predict that these youngsters will match their mothers’ accomplishments. But George Teague, Jr., who trains Somewherovrarainbow and Lloyd’s Lady, already likes what he sees in the daughter of Rainbow Blue, who scored a front-end victory in 1:54.2 in her career debut.

“When you can breed Rainbow Blue to Somebeachsomewhere, that’s a good combination,” Teague said. “It looks like he’ll be a dynamite stallion. She has nice size, a gorgeous gait and a good head on her. She has all the tools. We put her in a couple Grand Circuit events, but we’ll let her dictate what we do.”

Lloyd’s Lady wasn’t quite as precocious in her career opener, as the $25,000 yearling acquisition broke stride leaving in the PA All-Stars.

“We’ll open her up a little bit more, and maybe she won’t get so grabby behind the gate,” Teague said. “Sanabelle Island was a fun horse to watch. She did a lot of her racing in the Maryland-Delaware area, so we could see her up close.”

Jimmy Takter conditions Wherethegirlsare and Live Entertainment — no surprise there, since he trained their distinguished dams as well.

Live Entertainment launched her career smartly with a victory in the PA All-Stars. The daughter of Real Artist-West Side Glory may have a little extra incentive Saturday; it was at The Meadows in the 2011 Nadia Lobell that her sib’s 22-race winning streak was snapped.

The stake, known as the Sand Tart, is the centerpiece of The Meadows’ Back To The Track celebration, which also features fireworks, a driver dunk tank, a losing ticket raffle and a patio party with a DJ. First post is 4:25 p.m.
