Wilkes-Barre, PA — Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania would like to remind horsemen in charge of top three-year-olds and/or Invitational horses of its $2M+ Sun Stakes Saturday, to be held on Saturday (August 16), and which will be drawn on Monday (August 11). The entry box closes at 9 a.m.
The Earl Beal Memorial for three-year-old open trotters and the Max C. Hempt Memorial for their pacing contemporaries will carry a purse of $300,000 for its top division, with $200,000 and $100,000 consolation events. Fillies in the Delmonica Hanover for trotters and James Lynch Memorial for pacers will be racing for bounties of $250,000 – $125,000 – $75,000 in the three levels of their competition (no starting fee in $75,000 consolations).
Horses will be put into the various divisions of their races based upon purse money earned in 2025, which the top eight moneywinners going for the top purse, the eight next-highest moneywinners for the second-highest purses, and the third eight going for the other level of purse. A reminder that horses “entered”, but do not make the second consolations will have their two sustaining payments refunded.
