Revamped OTW bill passed in New Jersey

Columbus, OH — Both houses of the New Jersey legislature on Thursday approved a revamped off-track wagering bill.

According to a story on mycentraljersey.com, the new legislation will allow places such as restaurants to offer off-track wagering, provided they meet permit requirements. It also threatens to strip permits for 12 remaining OTW franchises by next year if progress isn’t made toward construction.

There were three other horse racing bills that were approved. Among them were measures to reduce the required racing dates at the Meadowlands and Freehold and to allow the state to jointly run racetrack operations at the Meadowlands with a lessee during a transition period.
