Freehold, NJ – Robert J. Colasanti, 80, of Farmingdale passed away on Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, at home. He was born in Newark and had resided in Colts Neck before moving to Farmingdale six years ago.
He was a well-known Standardbred harness driver, trainer, owner, and member of the Standardbred Breeders Association.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Charlie and Michael Colasanti.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Margaret Colasanti; a daughter, Mary Donohue (Kevin); his sons, Robert, Keith (Lisa), and Chad (Vicki); a brother Joseph Colasanti (Anabela); two sisters-in-law, Theresa and Marie Colasanti; granddaughters, Malarie Longano, Alexandra Byrnes (Alex), Gianna Colasanti, and Lainee Colasanti; and a great granddaughter, Brooklyn Longano.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, N.J., on Thursday (Jan. 29) from 3 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold, on Friday (Jan. 30) at 10:30 a.m. followed by entombment at St. Gabriel’s Mausoleum, Marlboro Township.
