Roland and Hauser score driving triples at West Liberty

West Liberty, IA – Morning showers did not dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd gathered at West Liberty, IA on Saturday (June 4).  After an hour delay, the track crew had the half-mile rated as fast when the horses gathered for the first race.

In the opener, Aged Iowa-Registered pacing mares lined up behind the gate. As the gate folded, Will Roland sent Nat A Cam to the lead from the rail.  Setting the pace, Nat A Cam cut the fractions in :31.3, 1:02.3 and 1:33.2.  Up by half-a-length as she reached the top of the lane, Nat A Cam held off a hard-charging Red N Hotallover (Chad Svendsen) to capture Roland’s first win on the card, pacing in 2:01.1.

The second race featured Aged Iowa-Registered trotters.  I’m Another Wilson looked to make his 4-year-old debut with trainer Adam Hauser in the bike.  Leaving from the four-hole, I’m Another Wilson charged to the top and didn’t look back.  With fractions of :34.4, 1:05.2 and 1:37.3, I’m Another Wilson was up on the field by 12 lengths as he turned for home.  Trotting home in :31.1, I’m Another Wilson returned victorious to the winner’s circle for Carol and Tyson Paris.

Two-year-old pacers took to the track in race seven.  As Athleticalyinspired (Chad Svendsen) left for the front, Chicken N Dice (Will Roland) tracked in behind Manasquan Beach (Dan Roland), letting the front runners cut the mile.  As horses raced around the last turn, Chicken N Dice rolled the dice to challenge the leader.  As the finish line approached, Chicken N Dice hit the line for the win for owners Thomas Carey and Jesse De Long, also gaining a driving double for Will Roland.

Huntress (Adam Hauser) looked to repeat her winning ways in race nine.  Getting away fourth from the rail, Huntress let Hangman McGee (Brett Erickson) set the pace.  Moving up to sit second as they raced past the three-quarter-pole, Huntress was only half-a-length behind the leader as they hit the stretch.  Pacing home in :26 flat, Huntress grabbed the win in 2:03, Hauser’s second win on the card.

In race 11, Will Roland had the assignment on She’s A Desire, racing from the rail in the second division of 3-year-old pacers.  Sprinting for the lead, She’s A Desire desired the front end, taking the pacers to the quarter in :32.3.  Up by two lengths at the half in 1:04.3, She’s A Desire was not being challenged as she raced to the three-quarters in 1:36.2.  Ahead of the field by eight lengths, She’s A Desire cruised home in :28 flat, winning in 2:04.2, with Roland picking up a driving triple.

Not to be outdone in the closer, Adam Hauser also had sights set on a driving triple with Spector’s Springer in the second division of the 3-year-old trot.  As Blazing Lifer (Brett Erickson) took the lead, Spector’s Springer drifted into second.  Not happy with a pocket trip, Hauser asked Spector’s Springer for some trot and they took over the lead as they raced to the half.  In full command, Spector’s Springer sprung ahead of the field, with a 15-length lead as he trotted to the lane.  With a mile in 2:06.3, Spector’s Springer clinched the win and the driving triple for Hauser.

Iowa racing returns on Saturday (June 11) at Bedford, IA  Post time is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. CST.
