Romantic Interest and Home’n Dry take Sunday features at Rosecroft

Ft. Washington, MD — Jonathan Roberts and Tyler Davis each had three wins and Romantic Interest and Home’n Dry took the Sunday night (Oct. 13) features at Rosecroft Raceway.

Frank Milby piloted Romantic Interest ($3.80) to a second straight Maryland Open Handicap win, with a brush heading to the half and stopping the timer in 1:51.1. Candy Milby owns the 4-year old Always A Virgin gelding who put his seasonal earnings over $70,000. Hi Sir was second and Rocktavious was third.

Davis and trainer Brian Malone dominated the late show, registering three straight wins to conclude the Sunday program.

Home’n Dry, a classy winner of $341,841, took the lead early and held off pocket sitting Fashion Smile who was bidding for a third straight win. The time of 1:54.2 was a season’s best for the 7-year old Credit Winner offspring who returned a surprising $16.00 to win. Malone trains for owner Peter Venturini.

Davis then took the late Daily Double with Mars Man ($6.80) for owner Joseph Wehausen and the finale for Carolyn Boyce’s Smart Rokker ($2.60).

Roberts’ three wins came aboard Street Boy ($12.00) for Rene Allard and trainer Trevor Stafford in 1:52.1; Owen’s Spirit ($6.20) for the Callahan Family Farms and trainer Amber Tucker in 1:54.2; and first time Lasix finally got Dr Nipntuck’s ($3.00) season turned around in 1:57 for a new lifetime mark for owners Bib Roberts and the Graham Grace Stables. Megan Roberts conditions the 3-year old Dr Dreamy gelding.

The race of the night featured a five-horse photo taken by Ardyne Sportstar. The 4-year-old gelding by Sportswriter got home in 1:53 by the slimmest of noses over Beach Art, as both rallied from the back of the pack. Last week, Ardyne Sportstar missed by a nose at 5-1. This week, he and driver David Hill III paid a whopping $125.40. John Dixon owns and trains the winner who took a new lifetime mark.
