Columbus, OH — Four divisions of the $20,000 Buckeye Stallion Series were held for 2-year-old pacing fillies Thursday (Aug. 21) at Eldorado Scioto Downs. Driver Chris Page won two of the events, with Odds On Catherine in 1:53.3 and Queen Valerie in 1:54.3.
In the last BSS division of the evening, Page settled Queen Valerie in fourth the early part of the mile as the field headed towards the :28.1 opening quarter with Odds On Dividend (Jeremy Smith) on the lead. Coming first-up towards the soft :58.1 half, Queen Valerie ground it out going towards the 1:26.2 three-quarters and by the top of the stretch had pulled up to the leader’s wheel. Queen Valerie won by a half length over Bad Girl Up (Dan Noble) with Angel Secret (Randy Tharps) getting up for third.
Queen Valerie was purchased out of the Ohio Selected Yearling Sale for $52,000 from breeder James Crawford IV. By Summa Cum Laude out of the Little Steven mare De Valeria, Queen Valerie now has two wins in five starts with $26,200 in earnings for trainer Ron Burke and owners Burke Racing, Weaver Bruscemi, Knox Services and R A S Racing.
Page also won with Odds On Catherine in 1:53.3 for trainer Virgil Morgan Jr. Getting away fourth from the rail, Odds On Catherine didn’t sit long and was on the move shortly after the :27.3 opening quarter. Making the front before the second turn, Odds On Catherine led the field towards the :56 half and 1:25 three-quarters. Eyes Up (Noble) made a move down the stretch after sitting in the pocket but could only get within a length of the winner; Fool Me Twice (Brady Galliers) was third.

Odds On Catherine, by Downbytheseaside out of the Bettor’s Delight mare Miss L A, was a Lexington Selected Yearling Sale purchase. Owned by Odds On Racing, Odds On Catherine broke her maiden with the victory and now has $19,000 in earnings.
Mingle In Dingle, with Cam McCown up, took the first division in 1:53.3. Leaving from post three, Mingle In Dingle led at every call of :28, :56.2 and 1:24.3. The Brian Brown trainee won by two lengths over Foolish Beetrayal (Sam Widger); City Of Fear (Trevor Smith) was third.
Mingle In Dingle was a $9,000 Ohio Selected Yearling Sale purchase and is owned by VIP Internet Stable. With two wins in four lifetime starts, Mingle In Dingle has hit the board in each of her starts towards earnings of $23,400. Rose Run Farm bred the Dancin Yankee filly who is out of the Western Terror mare Sebring Blue Chip.
Brett Miller and Madetorockette came from the back of the pack to win the fourth division in 1:53.1. Getting away seventh from post five, Madetorockette watched from afar as She’s As Well (Noble) hit the opening quarter in :28.3. Pulling as the field headed towards the :55.4 half, Madetorockette eventually had room to roll after the 1:23.4 three-quarters. Pulling three-wide and coming home impressively in 27.3, Madetorockette won by three-quarters of a length over She’s As Well; Gothic (Smith) was third.
Owned and bred by Sharon Edelman, Madetorockette is trained by Jim Arledge Jr. The Pet Rock filly out of the Stand Forever mare Standing Danette, Madetorockette now has three wins in five starts and $62,875 in earnings.
Racing at Scioto Downs continues Friday (Aug. 22) with a full 16-race card, including five divisions of the Buckeye Stallion Series for 2-year-old colt pacers, the $26,000 Open Trot and the $25,000 Filly and Mare Open Pace.
Tuesday (Aug. 26) is an added day to the Scioto schedule as it is an agreed upon make-up date between the track and the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association. The box closes for the Tuesday card on Friday (Aug. 22) at 2 p.m.
The 90-day 2025 Eldorado Scioto Downs race meet runs through Saturday, Sept. 13. Races will be held Tuesday-Saturday the week of Aug. 25. There will be a special Labor Day card on Monday, Sept. 1, with racing continuing Thursday-Saturday that week. Closing week of Scioto will host races Wednesday-Saturday. First post for all scheduled race days is 5:45 p.m. with exception on Friday, Sept. 12. A special late first post of 6:45 p.m. will help accommodate horsepeople attending the Ohio Selected Yearling Sale.
