Royal Becca J was a narrow winner in the Open Trot on Wednesday.

Trained by Carol Jamieson-Parker, the 6-year-old RC Royalty gelding set most of the fractions before a fine duel ensued for the final quarter between he and pocket-sitting I Like My Boss. Royal Becca J maintained a slim lead at the wire for the win. Blownoutofthewater was third.

It was the third win of the season for Royal Becca J and 19th in his career. His season has been overshadowed by stablemate NF Happenstance, who leads all trotters in North America this year with more than $140,000 earned.

The seventh race celebrated the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, who was enjoying their annual night at the races. Myclaimtovictory ($5, Ross Wolfenden) won the race and was the recipient of a black and pink cooler, recognizing DBCC’s night at the races. The Delaware Breast Cancer coalition is a non-profit aiming to increase breast cancer awareness. To learn more, please visit www.debreastcancer.org.
