Columbus, MN — On Tuesday, August 30 Running Aces received the Patriot Award for their support towards employees that serve in the armed forces. The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard conducts an awards program designed to recognize employers who support a strong National Guard and Reserve force. Employers qualify for recognition when they practice leadership and personnel policies that support employee participation in the Guard and Reserve.

Sergeant David R. Bambenek, U.S. Army, (Ret.) presented the award to Running Aces during the races on Tuesday night.

Joseph Miller, a Running Aces pit dealer, has served four and a half years with the 257th Military Police Company (MPC). He recently nominated Running Aces for this award for his appreciation of the flexible scheduling around military drill weekends. Miller mentioned Lynnette Hampeys as the one of the key managers who helped him meet his service commitments.

“Given weekends are a busy time at Running Aces, I recognize that requesting time off to attend drill weekends isn’t ideal,” said Miller. “I’ve never felt I had to worry whether my job here was secure because of my service.”

Sergeant David R. Bambenek, U.S. Army, (Ret.) presented the award to Running Aces during the races on Tuesday night. The award was presented by Bambenek to Robert Farinella, Running Aces’ General Manager and Lynette Hampeys, pit supervisor.

“Being a Veteran myself, I know the service and commitment these soldiers give,” said Farinella. “We at Running Aces are proud to help and support those that serve our great country.”

Joe Miller plans to continue his service with the MPC. He is currently supporting the necessary training efforts for a group of soldiers who will be deployed to Afghanistan in May.
