Chesapeake City, MD — Winbak Farm is sad to announce the passing of Sass Newton p,2,2:03.4h; 3,2:00.1f; 1:51s ($607,466). She was a 30-year-old retired broodmare who resided at Winbak Farm of Maryland. Sass Newton was a 38-time winning daughter of Storm Compensation. She passed on June 11, 2024.

“Sass Newton was a great racemare that also had an excellent broodmare career,” said Joe Thomson, Winbak Farm owner. “We purchased her in 2011, after she was already a proven producer, and she produced some very nice Winbak Farm-bred performers, including millionaire Newborn Sassy.”

Sass Newton’s offspring have earned $2,563,530. Sass Newton was the dam of 10 winners including Adioo Volo stakes winner Newborn Sassy p,1:50 ($1,097,155), James Lynch Memorial winner Ideal Newton p,1:49.4f ($629,731), Isaac Newton p,1:51.3f ($367,090), and Smart Rokker p,1:50.1f ($300,666).

“Sass Newton produced four winners of $100,000,” said Jack Burke, Winbak General Manager. “I am glad that her legacy continues with her daughters who have already produced several winners.

Sass Newton’s daughter, Newborn Sassy, is the dam of Sir Issac Newton p,3,1:50.3f ($136,058). Ideal Newton is the dam of Closing Statement p,1:49.1f ($545,175) and Inverse Hanover p,1:49.2 ($357,411).
