Bloomsburg, PA — Bloomsburg Stakes for sophomores were featured at the Columbia County Fairgrounds in Bloomsburg, Pa., on Tuesday morning (Sept. 25).

In the $5,846 colt trot, Trustworthy Kid was a winner in 2:04.2 for trainer Boots Dunn and driver Roger Hammer. The SJ’s Caviar gelding won by four lengths for the Dunn Stable.

The $4,397 colt pace was a battle between two stables, the Hammer and Todd Schadel barns, as each had two entrants in the field of four. In the end, Hammer horses took first and second with Nucular Enemy (Nuclear Breeze) holding off stablemate Nate Breeze by a nose in 2:01. Hammer drove the winner, while Chris Shaw drove Nate Breeze.

In the first division of the filly trot, Schadel got his revenge, coming from the pocket to win by a head in 2:03.1 with Cantab Cabela. Todd trains and co-owns with his wife, Christine. The Cantab Hall filly got up over Hammer and Cannot Tell A Lie.

Hammer and Dunn then teamed to win the second division with Barefoot Brook, another Cantab Hall filly. Barefoot Brook won by more than three lengths in 2:03.4.

The first division of the Bloomsburg Stake for filly pacers was won by another Todd Schadel entrant, Keystone Chianti. The Rustler Hanover filly was parked every step of the way, hanging on to win by a head over Hot Latte and Shaw in 2:01.1. Todd Schadel and the Estate of George Hempt own Keystone Chianti.

In the final division, Chrome Over, trained and reined by Steve Schoeffel, was a 2:00.2 winner in wire-to-wire fashion. Ginny and Kathy Schoeffel own the filly in partnership with Marian Schilling and Jim Nelson. Chrome Over is a daughter of Yankee Cruister.

Pennsylvania Sire Stake action takes center stage at Bloomsburg on Wednesday, with 13 races slated for a 10:30 a.m. start.
