Edgerton, OH — The Seneca County Fair in Tiffin, Ohio, hosted a successful two-day meet on Monday (July 25) and Tuesday (July 26). Good weather and a fast track were major factors contributing to the success. Some 151 horses were entered for the two sessions with 23 races being contested.
The fastest pacing mile for the fair came in the first division of the 2-year-old colt pace on Tuesday when Jin McRhody (McArdle-Jin Millie) stopped the timer in 1:58.2. The gelding is owned by Peavyhouse Stables Inc. with Phil Peavyhouse doing the training. Skip DeMull had the winning drive on Jin McRhody.
The 7-year-old gelding Cody Coy (Full Count-Cindy Coy) completed the fastest trotting mile for the meet when he toured the Tiffin twice-around in 2:00.3 in the Open Trot in the fair’s final race. Ryan Stahl drove Cody Coy for owner Chris Easterday and trainer Dale Edwards.
Ryan Stahl picked up six winning drives at the fair to capture the driving honors. Tyler Bates, Jeff Brewer, Dale Edwards, John Konesky III, and Kurt Sugg each had two training victories to share the training accolades.
A big congratulations to the speed department of Dave Hoover, Dave Hufford, and Brian Staib for overseeing the successful meet. A big thank you to the Seneca County horsemen for all of their hard work on the track and for the food buffet for the visiting horsemen. Also, a big thanks to the Corfman family for all of their musical talent in playing the National Anthem and the calls to the post.
Hunter Holton with the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association’s “Racing with the Stars” exhibit was present on Tuesday to provide entertainment and information to harness racing fans and other fair-goers. The race program concluded with Holton conducting stick-horse races on the track for kids after the final race on Tuesday.
