Columbus, OH — Shark Gesture, who produced a pair of all-age track record performances in June, has been named Horse of the Month by the U.S. Trotting Association.

Shark Gesture left the others swimming in his wake in the Dan Patch Invitational this past Saturday at Hoosier Park.

The 7-year-old son of Cam’s Card Shark punctuated the month with a 10-1/2 length, 1:48.1 victory in the Dan Patch at Hoosier, the fastest in the 16-year history of the Indiana track. His other start during June was a victory in the $228,000 Bettor’s Delight at Tioga Downs, which he won in 1:48.3 — also an all-age track record. He was driven in both races by regular pilot George Brennan.

“He (Shark Gesture) makes it easy,” trainer Larry Remmen said in the Hoosier Park winner’s circle this past Saturday. “He’s very laid back and relaxed, and such a nice horse to deal with. He does what we ask, and he’s never been better than he was tonight.”

The speedy pacer, who currently stands atop the Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown Top-10 Poll, is owned by Norman and Gerald Smiley and Tom and Louis Pontone’s TLP Stable. He has won four of five starts and $347,000 this year, to push his career totals to 24 wins and $2.2 million.
