Shenandoah Downs Fall meet harness applications now available

Woodstock, VA — Racing applications for the ninth annual Fall pari-mutuel harness racing season at Virginia’s Shenandoah Downs are now available online.

Trainers can access and submit applications at shenandoahdowns.com under the “Horsemen” header. Deadline to submit an application is Aug. 5.

The seven-week meet in Woodstock will run from Sept. 14-Oct. 27 with racing every Saturday and Sunday at 1:05 p.m. A series of Virginia Breeder’s races will begin on Sept. 28 and culminate with a championship day on Oct. 27. The 2- and 3-year-old pacers and trotters of both sexes will compete in a pair of $8,000 elimination races prior to the finals. Championship day itself features eight divisional title matches with a minimum $80,000 purse.

The track is conveniently located off I-81 at Exit 283 in the scenic Shenandoah Valley, halfway between Winchester and Harrisonburg in the northwest part of the state.

Prior to the Shenandoah Downs pari-mutuel meet, a four-day non-wagering meet will take place at the same site from Aug. 28-31 during the Shenandoah County Fair. Post time each day is Noon and acclaimed announcer Roger Huston will call the action the first three days.
