Chester, PA — Yogi Sheridan fired down the highway with Jive Ninety Five to post a coast-to-coast victory in the $9,900 American Harness Drivers Club Trot at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon (June 11).
Leaving from post three, Sheridan shot to the lead and bore first-over pressure from Southwind Frost (Robert Hechkoff) before that one broke stride to a :27 first quarter. Jive Ninety Five then endured a challenge from King Cast (Jacob Stillwell) as that one sat stuck uncovered on the rim to a :57.4 half.
King Cast soon tired to the backside, clogging the outer tier while Jive Ninety Five scooted to a 1-3/4 length lead to three-quarters in 1:26.3.
Sheridan had enough in the tank for the stretch drive to stride home a two-length winner in 1:56.1 with Winneress (Anthony Verruso) zipping into the mix late for second. Pocket-sitter All Rise (Tony Beltrami) finished third and My Big Kadillac (Mike Polansky) took fourth.
Peter Pellegrino trains Jive Ninety Five, a 6-year-old gelding by Andover Hall, for owner Ervin Peachey. He paid $5 to win.
AHDC action continues next Sunday (June 18) at Harrah’s Philadelphia. First-race post time at Harrah’s Philadelphia is 12:45 p.m. (EDT).
