Sherman romps in Meadows GLADA leg

Washington, PA — Don Sherman and Fingals Wave found another gear in the stretch and drew off to an 8-length rout in Friday’s (Oct. 21) $9,000 leg of the Great Lakes Amateur Driving Association (GLADA) trotting series at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Tom “Mayhem” Svrcek (Whiskey Lindy) cut the fractions through three-quarters, but when Sherman and Fingals Wave — the 1-9 favorites — moved through the final turn, they were gone in a heartbeat, scoring in 1:56.1. Joelene Christman (Romanee Blue Chip) finished third while Bob “Bomber” Barnard (Luvcrunchess) completed the ticket.

Jessica Roegner trains Fingals Wave, a 6-year-old Kadabra-Serenas Genie gelding who lifted his lifetime bankroll to $218,372, for Paul O’Neil.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Tuesday when the program features a pair of carryovers — $7,773.74 in the final-race Super Hi-5, $3,966.54 in the Jackpot Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
