Shooter’s Dream rides pocket to Meadows win

Washington, PA — Finally blessed with a good post position, Shooter’s Dream took full advantage by working out a pocket trip and brushing through the lane to capture Friday’s (Oct. 2) $10,800 co-feature at The Meadows, a $20,000-$30,000 claiming handicap pace.

Shooter’s Dream hadn’t started inside post seven in his last four starts. But he drew post one for Friday’s contest, and the 10-year-old Sand Shooter-With A Dream gelding used the rail to chase the leader, Touch Of The West, from the pocket. Shooter’s Dream roared by that rival to down him by three-quarters of a length in 1:51.3 for Jim Pantaleano, with Avalanche Hanover a ground-saving third.

Paul Kennedy owns and trains Shooter’s Deram, who won for the 45th time in 266 career outings and lifted his lifetime bankroll to $553,878.

In Friday’s other co-feature, also a $20,000-$30,000 claiming handicap pace, Border Control A scored for Brady Brown, trainer Chas Norris and owner Tom Jackson. The 11-year-old Bettor’s Delight-Contrapan gelding now boasts career earnings of $719,361.

Dave Palone collected four wins on the 13-race card, including a pair for trainer Ron Burke.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Monday (Oct. 5), when the 13-race program features a $47,632.39 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5 and an $11,090.56 carryover in the Pick-5 (races eight through 12). First post is 12:45 p.m.
