Signature Series highlights Van Wert card

Van Wert, OH — The Van Wert County Fair at Van Wert, Ohio held its third session of harness racing on Monday night, Sept. 6. The fair’s Signature Series races highlighted the seven-race program.

Kathy Hawk’s Forever Friendly captured the fastest split of the Signature Series pace in 1:57.2. Hawk also trains the 7-year-old gelding with Tyler Smith picking up the winning drive. Lightning Desire took the other division in 2:00.4. Ryan and Wendell Malone pay the bills on the 6-year-old stallion with Wendell doing the training and Ryan performing the driving duties.

Larry Farley steered Rewrite The Rules to victory in the lone division of the Signature Series trot. Farley also owns the 7-year-old gelding with Steve Boroff doing the training. Rewrite The Rules toured the Van Wert oval in 2:02.2.

Harness racing concludes at the Van Wert County Fair on Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 8) with an 11-race card. Post time for the first race will be 1 p.m.
