Dover, DE — High winds and sub-freezing temperatures could not deter Slick Tony from conquering his five rivals in Thursday’s (Jan. 28) featured $13,000 winners-over pace at Dover Downs.

Driver Corey Callahan launched Slick Tony to the front, and the pare set fractions of :27.3, :55.2 and 1:23.3 despite a headwind approaching 20 miles per hour up the backstretch. The 6-year-old No Spin Zone entire sped away from the first-over challenge of Somebaddude through the far turn and won by a wrapped-up 2-3/4 lengths in 1:50.3 as the even money favorite. Q’s Cruise (Tim Tetrick) rallied for second over Late Mail N (Montrell Teague), who tired from the pocket.

Slick Tony, who is trained by owner-breeder George Leager, paid $4.20 to win.

Dexter Dunn won five races on the 13-race card.
