Yonkers, NY – On behalf of its 1st Vice President Peter Venaglia, the Standardbred Owners Association of New York made a $5,000 donation to his alma mater Holy Cross High School.
Venaglia is also the chair of the SOA of NY’s Welfare and Retirement Fund, where he has been a highly valued advisor on matters that affect horsemen at MGM Yonkers Raceway.
In addition, he is also the co-host on the 22 MGM-Yonkers annual broadcasts and takes no compensation for his work and time on the show nor for his hours of preparation for it.
As a consequence, and at his request, the $5,000 donation was made to assist the school’s Knights Fund campaign.
“The Knights Fund support helps to fill the gap between tuition and the full cost of a Holy Cross education; it helps support athletics, the arts, and extracurricular activities; and it allows us the opportunity to provide additional tuition assistance so that students in need can have a Holy Cross education,” said Holy Cross President Mark A. Mongelluzzo.
“On behalf of our young men and women who benefit from your generosity, let me extend my heartfelt thanks,” Mongelluzzo concluded.
“While these kind remarks, addressed to the SOA are much appreciated, no one should overlook the fact that the genesis of this donation is built upon the work of the SOA’s 1st Vice President,” said Joe Faraldo, president of the SOA of NY. “It is Peter Venaglia who is solely responsible for this.”
