by Mike Bozich, for Harrah’s Philadelphia

Chester, PA — Trainer Tony Alagna had three wins and two of driver Simon Allard’s four wins came in seven divisions of Pennsylvania Stallion Series action for 2-year-old filly pacers on Wednesday afternoon (July 20) at Harrah’s Philadelphia, each going for a purse of $20,000.

Alagna’s first win came with Tom Hill’s Beautiful Hill (Corey Callahan). The daughter of Well Said was able to brush to the front past the quarter to win under wraps in 1:55.3. It was her first pari-mutuel start.

Alagna’s second win came in the very next race, this time with Perplexed (Joe Bongiorno). The daughter of Somebeachsomewhere drafted in the pocket and was able to close up the passing lane to win in 1:56.4 for owners Adriano Sorella and Dan Cohen.

Alagna’s third win came in the very last division with Cloud Diva (Simon Allard). The daughter of Somebeachsomewhere drafted patiently in the three-hole, before driving out before three-quarters and grinding out the win in 1:56.2.

The fastest of the Stallion Series was in the fifth division, as Let It Ride Stable and Dana Parham’s Blinky Beach (John Campbell) stopped the clock in 1:54.1. The daughter of Somebeachsomewhere was able to brush to the front and stay on for trainer Ross Croghan.

Other winners included My Sister Lucie (Allard), Gemma’s Beach Girl (Callahan) and Caviart Makin (Jim Marohn Jr.). The miles were 1:56, 1:56.1 and 1:56.
