Standardbred Roadster 100 to be contested Wednesday

Columbus, OH — The Standardbred Roadster 100 will be contested Wednesday (Nov. 9) at the American Royal Complex in Kansas City, Mo. The Roadster 100 is fashioned somewhat after the Mohawk Million/Next Generation, in that slots were auctioned off to create a class with a $100,000 purse.

In addition to the $100,000 purse, there is $15,000 in trainer incentives, with the winning trainer receiving $10,000 and the reserve trainer receiving $5,000. The slots for the Roadster 100 were sold between January and June 2022. Winning purchasers were not required to designate a horse until the show deadline. The horses entered are:

The week-long UPHA National Championship Horse Show is held Nov. 7-12 with classes for Saddlebreds, Hackney Ponies and Road Horses. The live webcast of any day of the show can be purchased through Richfield Video. The Standardbred Roadster 100 is for Roadster show horses that are registered Standardbreds and must have been shown at least four times in at least two prior shows to be eligible to the event. The class is sponsored by The Standardbred Journal, with trophies sponsored by the USTA. The Standardbred Journal is a quarterly publication published to promote the Standardbred as a Roadster show and breeding horse. Profits for the Journal are reinvested in the industry due to their mission statement “To promote and enhance the Standardbred Roadster Industry across North America.”
