Successful Fair Meet at Oak Harbor, Ohio

Oak Harbor, OH — The third stop on the Ohio Fair Racing Conference schedule was a successful one with two evenings of racing at the Ottawa County Fair at Oak Harbor. The fair raced on Monday (July 21) and Tuesday (July 22) with excellent weather each session. The fair drew 127 entries with ten races on Monday and nine races on Tuesday.

Hotwired (Mattnamaras Band-TM’s Miss Hot Shot) turned in the fastest pacing mile of the meet with a 2:01.1 clocking in a conditioned pace on Monday. The 4-year-old mare is owned and trained by Jim Mulinix with Mark Headworth picking up the winning catch drive.

The fastest trot of the fair came in the 3-year-old colt trot on Tuesday when Crowned With Glory (His Highness-Hey Kelsi) came out of the nine hole to tour the Oak Harbor oval in 2:05.1. EG Trot LLC, John Arnold, Mike Mallett, and James Paul pay the expenses on the gelding with Ed Greeno Jr. performing the training and driving duties.

Mark Headworth was the leading driver for the meet with seven trips to the winners’ circle. John Konesky III, Bill Webb, Mike Medors, Jim Mulinix, and Headworth each had two training victories to lead that category.

Lisa Avenatti captured the fifth leg of the Ohio Ladies Pace Series when she piloted Mach Made Her to a 2:03.4 winning mile.

The next stop in the Ohio Fair Racing Conference will be at the Union County Fair at Marysville on Saturday (July 25) and Sunday (July 26) with a 12:30 p.m. post time each day. The Sunday program will include the sixth leg of the Ohio Ladies Pace Series. The Marysville meet will be closely followed by a one-session program at the Seneca County Fair at Tiffin on Monday (July 27). Post time at Tiffin will be 5:30 p.m.
