Dover, DE — Sweet Angel Boy benefited from a perfect journey and won the Blue Hen/Open Handicap Pace at Bally’s Dover on Thursday night (Dec. 12).

Mack left quickest along the pylons early as Sweet Angel Boy accepted the pocket. The 4-5 betting favorite Itsrockandroll A, who parlayed a five-race win streak going into the race, left from post six. He was able to find a seat in third approaching the quarter pole.
Mack cut out the early fractions of :26.2 to the quarter and the half was reached in :54.4. Midway up the backstretch, Itsrockandroll A, grinded first up and was in attack mode. Captaincountrystar shadowed second over and Sweet Angel Boy viewed the action from the pocket. Mack and Itsrockandroll A raced side by side passing the three-quarters in 1:23.1.
In mid-stretch, Itsrockandroll A cleared the lead. However, Sweet Angel Boy was able to save ground along the pylons, and won by a half-length in 1:52.1. He paid $7.20 for the win.
Sweet Angel Boy (Sweet Lou) is owned and trained by Bobby Glassmeyer. Tony Morgan drove.
