T. Dale Manley, 83, dies

Columbus, OH — T. Dale Manley, 83, died Nov. 30, 2012, at Quaker Heights Care Community in Waynesville, Ohio.

The son of Pryor and Willouise Link, he was born Oct. 2, 1929, in Nashville, Tenn. Mr. Manley was a devoted, loving husband, father, son and grandfather. Raised on his family farm in Owenton, Ky., he overachieved in academics, baseball, wrestling and received statewide recognition as a basketball guard.

He graduated at the age of 16 and enlisted in the United States Army Calvary where he served in occupied Japan. Upon honorable discharge, he studied Animal Husbandry at the University of Kentucky and was invited to walk-on in basketball by Coach Adolph Rupp.

The majority of his professional life was a return to the farm as a well-known owner, breeder, trainer and driver of Standardbreds.

Mr. Manley is survived by his special companion, Laura Jordan; daughters, Rachel and Julie True; sons, Kevin (Sharon) and Mark (Anne); and grandchildren, Ryan and Ethan.

The family will receive friends from 9:30-11 a.m. on Friday (Dec. 7) with Pastor John Whitaker leading the funeral service at 11 a.m.
