There were decidedly mixed results in $20,000 first-round preliminaries of the Bobby Weiss Series for 3-year-old pacers on a cool Saturday afternoon (April 6) at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania. In the three dashes for fillies, two favorites and a second choice won; but in action for the sophomore males, the chalk met its Waterloo, with four second choices, a third choice and a 36-1 prospect winning.

Stratton drives first-ever winner in Friday MADC action
With the wind playing havoc again on the Friday night (April 5) card at the Meadowlands, the three Meadowlands Amateur Driving Club events found the lead — or close to it — the place to be. The first race on the card saw Victoria Stratton drive her first-ever winner, sending 15-year-old Marty Monkhouser A to command early before setting sensible fractions and pulling away in the stretch to win by 11 lengths in 1:53.1.
Mikala, Racine Bell tally in round four of Matchmaker
Mikala, driven by George Brennan, marched to the front past the quarter and never looked back on the way to her second victory in the Blue Chip Matchmaker Series, scoring as the favorite in the first of two $40,000 fourth-leg divisions on Friday (April 5) at MGM Yonkers Raceway. Racine Bell and Jason Bartlett pulled a mild upset in the second Matchmaker section.
