What Cheer racing weekend produces multiple lifetime achievements
With full cards on both Saturday (July 15) and Sunday (July 16), fans at What Cheer saw multiple lifetime achievements accomplished by Iowa Registered freshmen and sophomores.
Jimmy Freight Stakes to be contested Oct. 7 at Woodbine Mohawk Park
Woodbine Entertainment and Adriano Sorella have provided an update on the date and conditions for the inaugural Jimmy Freight Stakes. Initially announced in December 2019, the inaugural Jimmy Freight Stakes is scheduled for Saturday (Oct. 7) at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The race and C$100,000 purse are sponsored by Adriano Sorella.
Heath Campbell wins five at Bangor Raceway
A perennial kingpin at Bangor Raceway who is well accustomed to the limelight, driver Heath Campbell has been pretty much relegated to below the fold coverage in Queen City racing news this season. But on Sunday (July 16), as the Campbell magic reappeared in full force, the newsroom found it necessary to dust off the bold 48 point type set as the headlines exclaimed, “Heath Campbell wins five!”
Busy NYSS day at Buffalo on Wednesday
The 2023 Buffalo Raceway live harness racing season comes to a close on Saturday (July 22) so you’d expect things to be slowing down. It’s quite the opposite. On Wednesday (July 19), the New York Sire Stakes makes its final journey to the Hamburg half-mile oval with the sophomore colts and geldings along with the filly trotters competing in a unique doubleheader of sorts.

Illegal makes it two straight in Buckeye Stallion Series
The second leg of the Buckeye Stallion Series for 2-year-olds kicked off Sunday (July 16) at MGM Northfield Park with six divisions for freshman filly pacers. Illegal was the only first leg winner to repeat as she captured the final division.
Rose Run Yanae three-peats in Ohio Sires Stakes
Rose Run Yanae won for the third time in Ohio Sires Stakes action as she captured the first $55,000 division for 3-year-old trotting fillies Sunday (July 16) at MGM Northfield Park.
Lowville races canceled Tuesday
Unfortunately, due to unsafe track conditions, the county fair races scheduled for Tuesday (July 18) at Lowville (Lewis County), N.Y., will be canceled.
