A single field of eight 2-year-old trotting colts and geldings will go postward for a purse of $110,200 when the New York Sire Stakes reconvenes at Batavia Downs on Wednesday (Aug. 5.) The race will feature a recent track record holder who will be on hand to try and set another in a field that will offer a lot of competition.
Bailey J Set New Track Record in NYSS Win
It is almost unheard of that a 2-year-old colt, regardless of gait, making his first pari-mutuel start with only one baby race under his belt would set a new track record. Well Bailey J, did just that this afternoon (July 20) at Monticello Raceway setting a new track record of 1:56.2, smashing the former record of 1:58 which was set in the middle of August, seven years ago.
