Daley duo look to add New Jersey Classic titles to resumes
Noel Daley liked Buy A Round from the moment he began training the female trotter, particularly because she reminded him of past stable star Cedar Dove. The 2-year-old filly has done little to change Daley’s opinion since the beginning of her campaign, winning three of four races, including the New Jersey Sire Stakes championship a month ago. On Friday at The Meadowlands, Buy A Round will be one of four NJSS champs looking to add a New Jersey Classic final to their list of accomplishments. Daley also trains one of the other three, 2-year-old male trotter Sig Sauer.
Alford returns to America to drive Aldebaran Zeus in International Trot
Seven years ago, Chris Alford had the opportunity to participate in several races during Little Brown Jug Week at the Delaware County Fairgrounds while in the U.S. on holiday. The renowned Australian driver’s return to the States this week is all business. Alford, who is approaching 8,000 lifetime victories and is the winningest driver in Australian history, will get in the sulky behind Aussie-bred Aldebaran Zeus in Saturday’s $1 million MGM Yonkers International Trot at MGM Yonkers Raceway.
Kildare King looks to reign in Hill
Foot issues hindered Kildare King as a young horse, but since turning age 4 last year, the trotter’s performances have been predominantly majestic. The winner of two of 22 races at ages 2 and 3, Kildare King has hit the board 25 times in his past 31 starts, with 16 victories and seven second-place finishes. He also has been a track-record performer at Eldorado Scioto Downs, where on Saturday he will face nine rivals in the $250,000 Charlie Hill Memorial for older trotters.
Sire Fordham Road looks to make his mark in PaSS final
An injury prevented Fordham Road from making a name for himself on the track. As the sire of two finalists in Saturday’s $252,000 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes championship for 2-year-old female trotters, the stallion might start to get noticed now, six years after his brief racing career came to an end. Loveyoubunches and Little Town Road will represent Fordham Road in the PASS final for rookie filly trotters at Mohegan Pennsylvania’s Pocono Downs.
Alrajah One IT set to return to races in Maple Leaf
A year after being scratched from the Maple Leaf Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park because of an injury that sidelined him the remainder of the season, Alrajah One IT is ready to return to action Saturday in this year’s edition of Canada’s top event for older trotters. The 7-year-old stallion, unbeaten in three races since arriving in North America from Europe, is the 2-1 morning-line favorite.
Millers connected by 10,000-win milestone
Andy Miller and Brett Miller are not related, but they were in a way connected last week when each driver got the 10,000th win of his career. First was Andy, who notched his milestone triumph with Samwise The Brave on Aug. 20 at Lexington’s Red Mile. Five days later, Brett joined him in the 10,000-win club when he guided Flyin Bullets to victory at Eldorado Scioto Downs.

One day prior to Tattoo Artist’s win in his elimination of the Canadian Pacing Derby this past weekend, trainer Ian Moore was jogging the 6-year-old pacer when he began reflecting upon his association with the stallion.

T C I, fresh off his win in this past weekend’s William Wellwood Memorial in Canada, drew post five in a field of eight for Saturday’s $252,000 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes championship for 2-year-old male trotters at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania.
