Ron Burke does not often enter horses in the William Wellwood Memorial for 2-year-old trotters, but the trainer has enjoyed success in his limited trips to the event, winning in 2014 with Habitat and 2015 with Southwind Frank. On Saturday, Burke will have a horse in the Wellwood for only the second time in seven years when T C I meets seven foes in the third of three C$30,000 eliminations at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Melander looks for Pocono Sun Stakes repeats
It took several days for Marcus Melander to fully appreciate Heaven Hanover’s win in the Hambletonian Oaks two weeks ago, but her last-to-first triumph from post 10 at The Meadowlands certainly put an immediate smile on his face. On Saturday, Heaven Hanover will have another opportunity to put a smile on Melander’s face. She is among a field of eight 3-year-old female trotters that will meet in the $250,000 Delmonica Hanover Stakes at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania.
