The U.S. Harness Writers Association announced Tuesday (July 7) that Carter Duer has been elected to the Harness Racing Hall of Fame. In addition, Al Libfeld, Åke Svanstedt and Russell Williams have been put on the Hall of Fame ballot, which will go before voters later this summer.

USTA applauds ruling finding HISA unconstitutional for a third time; Fifth Circuit rules HISA violates the nondelegation doctrine
The United States Trotting Association (USTA) applauded Thursday’s (June 11) unanimous ruling by the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, finding the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act (HISA) unconstitutional for a third time. The court ruled, “HISA violates the nondelegation doctrine” by unlawfully giving governmental power to a private corporation.
USTA Executive Committee expands to 21 members
On Wednesday (April 29), U.S. Trotting Association President Russell Williams announced the members of the organization’s expanded Executive Committee. The committee, which previously consisted of 16 members, added five in accordance with an amendment passed during the Annual Meeting in March.
