Lexington, KY — The Red Mile in Lexington, Ky., begins its 2013 meet Aug. 4 for a 21-night summer run that will lead to the two-week Grand Circuit meet.
After opening night, racing will be held three days a week—Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays—with first post time of 7 p.m. EDT.
The summer meet will feature the Kentucky Sires Stakes for 2- and 3-year-old pacers and trotters. Preliminary rounds are scheduled for Aug. 11, 15, 22, and 24; the finals will be held Sept. 1, the evening before Labor Day.
The Kentucky Sires Stakes legs will race for $30,000 or $15,000 if the races split. The finals will each go for $250,000, making for a $2 million night of racing.
The summer meet ends Sept. 21. The Grand Circuit meet will be held Sept. 26-29 and Oct. 3-6; racing will be held at night the first three nights, then afternoons thereafter.
