Washington, PA – Hollywood Casino at The Meadows’ feature race tomorrow (Dec.18) will be named in honor of one of the track’s longtime trainer/drivers, Ben Bolon.
Bolon passed away last week at the age of 79, and the sixth race on Thursday is named the Rollin’ Ben Bolon Memorial Trot in remembrance of the Ohio native.
Bolon won three driving titles at The Meadows in the 1970s, and continued racing through 2009. He was known as an excellent trainer and driver of trotters, so it is fitting to honor him by naming the track’s top trotting event of the week for the longtime reinsman.
Friends are invited to gather in the winners circle to join the extended Bolon family for the blanket presentation following the sixth race on Thursday.
Thursday’s card includes a total of 14 races, with races 10-14 comprising the Pick-5. A guaranteed pool of $5000 will be offered for the wager.
First race post has been moved to 5:45 p.m. due to anticipated track thawing from warmer than usual temperatures.
