Thursday races cancelled at Butler (Pa) Fair

Prospect, PA — Pennsylvania Fair Sire Stakes action for 2-year-olds at the Big Butler Fair was cancelled Thursday morning, after the track was deluged by night-long rains.

The entrants will have the purses divided by the number of horses in their division, and each scheduled starter will receive three points in the scoring system that determines those eligible for the $200,000 Pennsylvania Fair Sire Stakes championships, to be held Saturday evening (Oct. 5) at The Meadows.

Should the rains halt and a drying process take place, Friday’s races for Sire Stakes 3-year-olds, and Saturday’s races for Quaker State Stakes horses, would still be a go, with post time each day at 9 a.m. Despite the current forecasts, one could remain optimistic.

The next stop on the circuit after Butler is at the Dayton Fair for a two-day event, on Saturday (July 6) and Sunday (July 7).
